Had my Urban Sociology mid terms yesterday, and it was a real heart attack because there were 2 questions to do but so much to write in 2 hours! At the end of it, Prof kept insisting for everyone to hand in the scripts because he had to leave and I had no choice but to submit my script even though I actually had a lot more to write!

Last night it was mainly discussing with my PS2249 (Government and Politics of Singapore) tutorial group mates on our presentation today and although the discussion lasted till almost midnight, I must say that the hard work really paid off because today’s presentation was fabulous and I think everyone did their individual parts really well!! :) What’s more, we had a really fruitful and interesting discussion with the rest of the class as well. Well done, guys!

The iLead meeting today was only a short 20 minutes, but I already felt the urgency to “perform” because we need to submit our cv as soon as possible to NEC so that we can be “matchmaked” to the internship company. It’s on a first-come-first-serve basis so I really need to think about which company I should choose to work with. 77th street? Nuffnang? Or should I include Shiseido (since I had wanted to join them this December but it may very well clash with the programme’s internship). What a headache – but I aim to get through it the first time round if everything goes according to plan!

I’m taking part in 17 magazine’s Super Stylin’ Contest with Stephanie this Saturday!!! Friends who wish to show us some LOVE, please come and support and do inform me!! Thank you so much and hope to see you’all there!

Before I log off to hit the books for tmr’s test, feast your eyes on these jaw-dropping shoes that are perfect for this season!

Are you inspired yet?!

Here comes the bride!

I’ve always had a soft spot for horses, especially white stallions! I remember reading the book ‘Black Beauty’ by Anna Sewell when I was younger and I had wept at the tragic story of Black Beauty – the beautiful, strong but ill-fated horse. It contains allegorical lessons about how to treat people with kindness, sympathy and respect, and I really enjoyed it. I think I’ve read it many times over but still had a lot of sentiments each time.

The image of a bride in her wedding gown riding on a galloping horse came from watching a video on Runaway Bride starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. Well, I just thought that the whole idea is so sweet and charming – wonder if my future wedding will incorporate me riding on a white horse too! Why not right? It’s one of my favourite animals :)

Yes, yes. What a fantasy!

Anyway, I’ll be having 2 tests in the next 3 days so no updates are permitted during the period. That’s my personal pact. But till then, anticipate exciting entries with events such as the Cozycot Holy Grail Party and Cyclohunt 2009!

Expect nothing but the sweetest romance in Singapore history (maybe, haha!!), lotsa glitz, glamour, jewels and a bevy of other celebrities gracing the event. After months of preparations, photo shoots and dress rehearsals (including the movie ‘The Wedding Game’ which exists practically for them), we ought to be happy for Singapore’s most celebrated celebrity couple’s lifelong happiness.

I finally found Someone.

Posted: September 23, 2009 in Uncategorized

My blog’s about 2 months old now but I realized that I haven’t really mentioned about one of the biggest loves of my life –

.MUSIC.

Yes, music calms my soul, enriches my mind, fuels my emotions. Totally. I think I don’t need to repeat myself with all that vocabulary to draw my point across, I’m sure many people share in my sentiments too – that music heals the soul in so many ways. Life is about music, and vice versa.

Was getting ready for the iLEAD interview today and browsed through the collection of my favourite pieces, many of which ballads and Westlifes (Yes, don’t laugh), but really, I can’t stand hard rock, mental or anything of that sort. But the funny thing is, listening to music when I’m doing stuffs (light exercising at home like stretching, weights and putting on makeup/wearing clothes) actually help me decide my mood and act upon that decision. Yes I dress according to my mood and if I feel particularly romantic or dreamy I tend to put my makeup on better – the colours of my eyeshadow, blusher, lip gloss etc. Isn’t that amazing?!

My Creative Neeon is disintegrating, and I really want to have an mp4 player as well to accompany me on those long bus rides…so I’m lusting after this cute, innovative device called the …iPod touch! iPod, portable computer, game player and video player all in one, and more!! What else can I ask for in a little travel companion? More about the wonderful touch here.

Hot stuff I cannot resist! Awww money money money where art thou?!

Hot stuff I cannot resist! Awww money money money where art thou?!

Back to the music part, I just wanna share this beautiful song that I used to love – and still love and that it touches my heart once again this afternoon when I played it. Presenting, ladies and gentlemen – I Finally Found Someone by Brian Adams and Barbra Streisand – and this video summarizes the love story between the 2 stars of OC – Taylor and Ryan.

Very sweet. Very…familiar.

I finally found someone
That knocks me off my feet
I finally found the one
That makes me feel complete

It started over coffee
We started out as friends
It’s funny how from simple things
The best things begin

This time it’s different
Ta ra ra ra
It’s all because of you
Ta ra ra ra
It’s better than it’s ever been
‘Cause we can talk it through

My favorite line was
Can I call you sometime?
It’s all you had to say
To take my breath away

This is it, oh, I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one
To be with every night

‘Cause whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

Someone
I finally found someone

Did I keep you waiting?
I didn’t mind
I apologize
Baby, that’s fine
I would wait forever just to know
You were mine

You know, I love your hair
Are you sure it looks right
I love what you wear
Isn’t it too tight?
You’re exceptional
I can’t wait for the rest of my life

This is it, oh, I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one
To be with every night

‘Cause whatever I do
It’s just got to be you, oh yeah
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

And whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

iLEAD Interview No.2

Posted: September 23, 2009 in Uncategorized

I was too nervous to take photos of my outfit today because of the interview (with 3 Professors!) but really, I’m so relieved it was quite a breeze. Being simply myself and describing my loves and passions for fashion, beauty and luxury, the perks of being in the programme wasn’t too difficult. The professors were particularly interested in Inspiring HOPE 2009 too. Cool. Yeah, well, I’m not complacent though. Hopefully I’ll get in!

Maybe I should just take this chance to give free publicity for this blog shop Foggiare because I simply love my outfit today thanks to their blazer! I also bought this bodycon ribbon back dress from there! GORGEOUS pieces! I’m so glad for my friend Joanna, who started this shop (they’re now open at Novena Square 2 as well) and from what I can see, business is booming!!

The models really pretty! I think she does acting in local Channel 8 dramas!

The model's (Betty) really pretty! I think she does acting in local Channel 8 dramas!

And this blazers a die-for!

And this blazer's a die-for!

Thanks Foggiare! I love clothes are that affordable yet look good on me! Never believed in paying till I’m broke for fashion, at least not at the moment when I’m a poor poor student. Gee!

Gonna hit the books tonight. I hope. It’s Wednesday already – half of the reading week gone! Oh my goodness.

Melancholy of the Autumn Terrace

Posted: September 23, 2009 in Uncategorized

An otherwise empty seat

Threading through the dense, untidy brush

Lost in the wilderness of the autumn wind

Surviving, but not thriving

The road ahead is winding endlessly,

like a deeply wrecked path leading straight to nothingness

It cannot be stopped, nor continued

A dust devil of confusion that plagues the mind incessantly

Suddenly the music arrives

Healing the soul with its medicine and guardianship

The heart wishes to be salvaged, it searches for a remedy

Hand in hand, they thought a hope for preservation was near

But the autumn terrace was lured and tempted by the perils of lust and an appetite for the intangible gift

Sweet melancholy travels its way in the earth

Is this a despicable lie that traps me

Helplessly tossing in an abyss of undying complications

Memories of happiness and promises washed away by a gust of hurricane

A monstrous test that leaves no ground behind

Churning only the dreams and producing remnants of pain and torture

What is being right

What about the loneliness of a starry, silent night

What about the sleeplessness of a deprived spirit

The impossibility of breaking free from the chains of ruins

The desire of independence and liberty only exists in dysfunctional cells

The blood of passion flows wildly, uncontrollable, recalcitrant

though a mockery in reality

The life of a mortal ceases but only so long

A question of self worth, truth

And what is indubitably deserved.

Oh, and before I go, I really need to share these beauty products with you – stuff that models rave about and can’t do without during Fashion Week! I’m just handpicking some to mention here…

Bobbi Brown Eye Brightener
Bobbi Brown Eye Brightener

Bobbi Brown has several of the best beauty products in the market, trust me. I’ve been using their creamy concealer kit for ages, and their blemish stick is simply handy and effective in “colouring away” my pimples and pimple scars etc. Her eye creams and eye brightener works wonders as well! It’s no surprise that models love them! Go from dull to to WOW now!

Lancôme Hydra Zen Tinted Moisturiser-Light, hydrating and leaves you with skin that glows.

I haven’t tried this before, but Lancome products are pretty good so far, from my personal experience.

Neutrogenas Wave Power Cleanser
Neutrogena’s Wave Power Cleanser

Ok I really don’t know about this product but when it was first launched with Vanessa Hudgens as its endorser I thought it was just another gimmick from the brand because you need to buy the pad refills separately – that means more profits for them. Now on Grazia it seems to be recommended so I guess I may give it a try afterall!

And this is a review of it!

Big-O @ Wheelock Place for dinner!

The food at Big-O is really good! The problem with late updates is that I can’t really remember what they’re called on the menu but I think it’s seafood platter (like Fish & Co.) and cheese sticks! Well, I had cravings for Fish & Co. but the outlet at Wheelock is closed and the one at Ion is too crowded and noisy for a nice romantic dinner date so we hung around for a place that has Fish & Co. “style” foodie..OH! And the doggie posters and decorations are soo adorable! I can’t say how much I love dogs! Like I like to tell my friends my favourite breed are those which have “short legs that move very quickly when they walk/run, very furry and their hair tends to cover their eyes partially, and most importantly have a cute, adorable face that makes me melt!” OK, and the dog has to be small, maybe miniature enough for me to put in my handbag – Paris Hilton style! Hmmm. That is so bimbotic! Hahah!

Inspirational Talk by Jane Lee (Singapore’s Ladies’ Mount Everest Team)

Roll 114

The talk by Jane Lee was really inspirational though it also made me realize that I could never embark on such a dangerous task as her – first, climbing mountains has never been the most inspiring activity for me and secondly I can never imagine putting my life at risk just to conquer Mt Everest. I think everyone has their “own mountain to overcome”, just as Jane Lee puts it, and for her the desire to to embark on this extremely challenging task is something that she really wanted to acted upon, and of course, she succeeded. Anyway, I really admire her (by the way she’s really pretty and athletic and down to earth, and I think that’s very attractive) for her bravery and determination. Cheerios to Jane!

I wouldn’t train for years, sign indemnity forms to declare where my body would be deposited if something happens to me and I didn’t make it back home alive, or brave the harsh coldness and gamble with fate (possible avalanches, falling rocks), aferall, it IS the tallest mountain in the world. But I have my own problems to thrash out.

I know that I can do it.
